Giving the Wedding a Jewish Makeover

Well, Mr. Red and I both come from two different religions — him being Catholic and me being Jewish. So, of course, what we’ll be doing is having a civil ceremony. But being the ultra-Romantic and ultra-sentimental person I am, I can’t just hire an officiant and hope for the best! On top of that, I am an aspiring novelist, so if you think that the ceremony won’t be fully, 100% written by me, you are oh-so-very wrong.

Anyway, Mr. Red and I have decided that the best way to go about the big day will be to bring in things from both our religions and cultures: his Italian-Catholic half and my Russian-Jew half.

Well, of course, the most important part of the Jewish wedding is the beautiful chuppah (which, might I add, I am planning to build myself… okay, okay, my dad is going to help as well…). It symbolizes the house that the bride and groom are going to build. Anyway, here are a few inspirational photos (I tried to find pictures of some not too extravagant ones):

And, for your entertainment, Christina Aguilera’s outrageous chuppah!

And here are a few websites that explain how to make your own:
